Please join us for 108 minutes of silent prayer and meditation to honor the International Day of Peace. We will sit for three sessions of 30 minutes each with a break in between. POPSICKLE is Brooklyn’s literary arts festival. Now in its fifth year, the fest aims to unite Brooklyn’s array of reading series, publishers, and literary organizations into one day-long megareading. POPSICKLE is free and open to the public.

The Sound of Peace is a sunset celebration of the United Nations International Day of Peace. A welcoming introduction from Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury will be followed by musical prayers offered by spiritual leaders, and a poetry reading. The celebration will conclude with the universal sound of silence. Co-Sponsors of The Sound of Peace include the United Religions Initiative at the United Nations, the Committee of Religious NGOs, the Committee of Spirituality, Values, and Global Concerns, Global Family for Love and Peace, the Buddhist Council of New York, and Lalitamba Magazine. The Sound of Peace is part of the Week of Global Interreligious Dialogue and the 11 Days of Global Unity.
